Ron and Racheal Aguilar are named as our Chapter Family of the Month for September. They attend St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Lemon Grove where Ron is a member of San Miguel Council, #3667 and serves as the current Grand Knight and Council Director. She is also involved in the Council as she works their events such as pancake breakfasts, the fall festival, and joins Sir Knight Ron in the parades. Ron and Racheal have been married 47 years and are looking forward to 2019 when they will be celebrating their 50thAnniversary. Racheal is a Eucharistic Minister for St. Johns and Ron sings in the Choir. Racheal is involved with the Catholic Daughters of America- which is very active in pro-life activities, and Ron is involved in a Bible Study group for the Church and School. They greatly reflect the first principle of the KofC, Charity, with “Food for Families” being almost a vocation. They are heavily involved in their parish food pantry, which supports not only the people at St. Johns, but many needy people in the community who come there for help. They visit a local larger Food Bank once a week to pick up food and supply the parish pantry. They also assist at a Senior Citizen housing facility next door to the church and work with Covenant Church volunteering their time to pass out food to even more needy people.
Ron recently helped start the new Assembly named after Bishop Flores, # 3610, where he serves as the Faithful Captain and he’s also District Warden 147. Ron first joined the KofC in 1989 while he was stationed in Great Lakes for the Navy. The Aguilars raised three children, daughters Angela and Katie, son Calvin.
The San Diego Diocese Chapter of the Knights of Columbus thanks the Aguilars for their service and are happy to call them our Family of the Month.
